Oh my!I almost forgot about my blog!
Now that the holiday party season is winding down, I hope to get some posts up soon. So far, it's been a good new year. I saw 007 in '007 -- Casino Royale! Great movie, exciting new "reboot" for the James Bond franchise. I'm doing a lot of running. It's never too cold to run in San Francisco. I'm reading several new books. I'm enjoying the DVD-Audio sounds of The Doors Perception and The Talking Heads Brick CD/DVD box sets.
More later. I hope this slapdash post gets me back in the Blogger groove!

I loved Casino Royale!
Wow, they really missed out on a marketing stunt there, realeasing it that bit too early. The Omen practically based it's entire marketing scheme on the simple basis that it was relesead on 06.06.06... Och well, there's another '007 in a thousand years time...
Welcome back Freethinker. Wishing you all the best in 2007. Don't disappear for so long next time :)
well. That certainly is a fascinating twist. Both quotes are so profound and arguable. Are you going to be copyrighting your version?? :)
.....and a curious mind would like to know. How the heck did you land on my "craft" blog??? And, to further the wonderment. How did you make it all the way through several posts. I don't see any crafty mentions here|
A belated Merry Solstice to you also.

To paraphrase the quote:
"The fact that we cannot see our friends or communicate with them before the transformation which we call life is no proof that they didn't previously exist."
Does this mean there's such a thing as "life before life?"

MyUtopia ~ Seems everybody loves the new Bond!
Nodders ~ Yes, the remake of The Omen had the perfect 6-6-06 campaign. Maybe another secret agent -- Agent 008 -- could debut in 2008?
Radio ~ Thanks. Your cool blog inspires me!
Stacy ~ You can discover new random blogs via the "Next Blog" button. (Try it!) That's how I found your "craft" blog. I'm not much into crafts, but I am into philosophy, which is why your quote intrigued me. Do you believe in both life after death and life before life, or just one, or neither? Freethinking minds want to know ...
Curiosity drew me back to see what you might have to say. First, I'll say again: I have noted that kids respond well to the story that I shared. That's why I chose it. I'm making a quilt square for a little girl who lost her father. I didn't want to just make something without meaning. Many folks have found meaning in that little story. I hope she might be one of them. The story is thought-provoking for me as well... and I see it got to you.
So, I have to say: There is no compelling reason {for me} not to believe in life after life. Or even life before life. (well, living in the womb can be construed as "life" before birth). My belief is: There is no concrete evidence which supports either. In grad school, I found the writings of Elizabeth Kubler-Ross fascinating on this topic. Have you read any of her books? If you're truly intrigued by this topic, you may find her writing just as interesting.
As do most of us, as pertaining to religion - I deny what I do not wish to believe and readily accept what I do. You'll find a great many contradictions within me - and I certainly won't explain them all here. Many days I linger on the existential edge of the spectrum. All days, I am a lover of life. I don't live my life looking forward to eternal afterlife. I do not accept the bribe of heaven or the threat of hell. I am a good person because I want to be. As to whether there's another life for me after I leave this body - I'll just have to wait and see....
A magical 2007 to ya! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and here's to an amazing journey ahead. To the Adventure!
Neil
Stacy ~ I knew I spotted a woman wise with words! Thanks for your insight. Yes, I enjoy the writings of Elizabeth Kubler-Ross (especially the DABDA process of dealing with death). We all accept reality in the end ...
Neil ~ May the stars shine brightly on all of us in 2007 ... and beyond!
Glad to hear you've had such a healthy and start to the new year :-) Never too cold to run in SF? Wow. You guys must have a great temperature all year round then....
Talking Heads -- always good! :-)
