Wayback Wednesday #20060802

The summer heatwave rages on. If you're reading this now, you're slaving over a hot computer, which is no relief from the heat. Wouldn't you rather be swimming right now? If a tub, a pool, or the Pacific Ocean is not available to you right now, just imagine joining me in the Aloha State.

Let's spin the big wheel and see where we land today ...

Two Thousand Three!

One of the many benefits to living on the California coast is the relative ease in visiting Hawaii. It's just a five hour flight from San Francisco. This Wayback Wednesday spotlights a couple of photos from June 21, 2003 at an isolated beach in Oahu. Yes, I had the 'fro grown out again at this time, but as these photos indicate, it's a bit compressed and straighter when wet. Here's a "beach boys" shot with friends Eric, Dixon, Bobby, and Casey.

The 'wave' never ends for these football players
A life ambition was achieved on this vacation. Those of you with straight hair take for granted that you can knock your head back and flip your hair back too. We curly haired folk just can't do this. But oh, how I've always wanted to, especially as a teenager when the hair flip was an affectation of "cool." Well, with my hair very long, and thoroughly soaked with Pacific Ocean water from submerged swimming, I surfaced, wet hair straight down over my face. Treading the water, I leaned my head forward, snapped my head back, and I did it! For the first time in my life, I experienced the hair flip!

This little piggy went to Waikiki ...

Oh man, how I'd love to be in that water -- *sigh*
Heat wave here too -- it's been too much for the last 4 weeks or so. But today it is RAINING! It's great -- I feel like going outside in the rain!

Ow, the hair flip :-D LOL! Glad to hear you enjoyed your debut :-D

Ah! Being a curly haired chick myself I can soooo understand! Although being a girl means I have it real long and the longer it is the more attainable that flip! However, it must be done with care lest you want your fingers to get stuck in there... speaking of which, once, in the damn 6th grade, some boys were throwing around a tennis ball when the teacher left the class. It whizzed by me, or so they thought, and disappeared into thin air... until I produced it from inside my hair, where it had gotten stuck... sad part? No one had noticed! It got stuck well in there and stayed put! I could have spent my day with that thing in my hair and no one would have been the wiser!

*sigh*

Oh well!

Besos to my SF friend! Hey, any million-dollar ideas? Let me know cause I need to move back home! Fo sho! ;-)

Have a great weekend!

Lilly ~ I know what you mean about liking the rain. If it's not too hard a rain, I actually like running in the rain. I feel real close to nature!

MyUtopia ~ Come on in! The water's fine!

Radio ~ I never would have expected that my 'fro would be so popular on this blog. I'm tempted to grow it out yet again!

MathTeach88~ Looks and Feels nice!

Sabatkes ~ Speaking of photos ... do you have any of your recent trip to the west?

Allison ~ And you probably take your hair-flipping ability for granted! Lucky girl!

Miz B ~ Ah, a kindred spirit! Yes, one advantage of the big 'fro is the ease of stashing stuff in there. Maybe I should grow mine out again and use it to smuggle my camera into concerts. They never do the "pat-down" on hair!

Sounds like you are missin' The City. I believe that San Francisco is missing Miz Bohemia as well! Come on back, the lights are still on for ya!
